Have you ever been sleepless at one o'clock in the morning, listening to the radio and the strange rhythms of the Shipping Forecast? Do you wonder, “What on earth is that all about”? or, “Where are those places and what are they like”?

Nikki Freeman had the same internal debate. Is it possible to go there and find out?

In 2025, the centenary year of the BBC broadcasts giving the weather conditions at sea encompassing the British Isles, she travelled all around the coasts, bagging the points mentioned in one part of the announcements - the Inshore Waters Forecast.

It took 10 months, driving, walking, sailing on ferries and taking photos. This book is filled with her images, thoughts and adventures, bringing these diverse locations to life.

Nikki is retired and living in rural Wales where she enjoys walking, photography and now living with her new canine companion, Lewis!
